It all started when he was given a small Vivitar camera at age 11. We can’t be sure if it was the idea of freezing time or simply making memories but, Yousef Amin was hooked to photography.

Over the years his passion for the art form has only grown and with it, a need to constantly see the beauty in the world around him.

From talking classes in college to learning how to develop film and prints- when it came to photography, Amin has always been interested in honing his skills and not photograph for the superficial fun of it. But it was only early last year he began to approach the art-form with a keener eye for aesthetics.

” I began to realise that there was more to photography than just capturing moments. This is an art form and the world needs to see it like that – as should the photographer,” explains Amin.

It is this commitment to the craft that makes Amin’s work admirable. To him, the perfect image is something that makes you wish you were there.

“What I love most about photography is my ability to freeze a second in time that other people just don’t even notice,” he adds.

That being said, Amin classifies his work as urban street photography; for his work pays equal focus to the city streets he photographs and the people in them – capturing every moment of living with authenticity.

However, to Amin, the ability to capture these images is also attributed to the fact that he’s an observer, who is always looking to capture an image that has a personality of its own.

“My process is hitting the streets and walking and looking around, up, down and behind. I try to evaluate everything I see and judge if it’s dramatic, artistic or worthy of a photo before I snap it.  I don’t photograph people without their permission and I don’t  just shop everything I see,” explains Amin.

It might seem unorthodox at first, but the more you think about it, the more you realise that the artform demands observation skills, and his Amin’s images are any indication, his skills are sharp.

Influenced by emotions and selective of his images, Amin is a photographer whose work captures the life of Jeddah, London, Marbella and more.

While many people may not necessarily notice what goes into capturing the perfect picture,  Yousef Amin is one of those photographers who give it a 100% effort.

“I like to think of my work as unique and different. Everyone sees the same thing in a different way and I think my style does set me apart because of the angles and techniques that I use during development,” adds Amin.

With an unshakable love for his craft and an eye for capturing images that are brilliant, Yousef Amin is currently working on an exhibit and also a book about different cities and unique and intriguing people. If his social media is any indication, this book is definitely going to be a huge success.Make sure you check out Yousef’s work online.
